A client had an odd request, the specifics of which probably do not have a lot of application in the real world, but the method in which I achieved the result does offer powerful flexibility when implementing Joomla functionality.

When porting a Joomla! installation from a development server to a production server, and you are using the DOCman extension, remember to update the $dmpath variable in the administrator/components/com_docman/docman.config.php file.

Joomla does not support assigning an article to multiple categories. If an article belongs to multiple categories, duplicate articles must be created and assigned to a category accordingly. If you want to use a Category Blog layout for a parent category, but don't want to display the duplicate articles, use a variation of the code below:

Installing Joomla on IIS was surprisingly painless, except when I went to start installing extensions through the Extension Manager. I would get the following error:
